Good Fishing Going On And Only Gonna Get Better

Report Date: December 1, 2020

The last couple weeks we have had some decent weather and been able to fish a little more consistently. We’ve had some cool fronts pass through after our last hurricane and we’re starting to see a early winter migration of Sailfish, Mahi Mahi and Blackfin tuna.

Bait for kite fishing hasn’t shown up in any consistent numbers yet so most of our fishing for Pelagics has been trolling. Dolphin, sailfish and blackfin tuna are showing up right on time with the early fronts. We have had consistent catches of mahi mahi and some smaller then average sailfish leading the charge.

Bottom fishing has been good to excellent for snapper. But grouper haven’t shown up in any big numbers yet preceding the close of the season January 1st. We’ll need a few more fronts and some north ground swell to make that happen. But we’ve had enough good snapper fishing going on to keep us interested with jumbo Lanes and Vermillions hitting the box and plenty of Amberjacks and Almaco jacks mixed in to give you the fight of the lifetime.

Fishing over the coming weeks will continue to improve if you can stomach the weather and we have the weather to make it out safely. With each passing cold front north wind and ground swell pushes fish south and as the sea surface drop and stay dropped the fish will eventually not migrate back north and be out in front of the inlet for a while and then eventually end up south of the inlet as they continue their journey.
